Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation Holding 2015 Alex’s Million Mile ― Run.Walk.Ride: 1 Month, 1 Cause, 1 Million Miles
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is holding its 3rd annual Alex’s Million Mile ― Run.Walk.Ride to increase awareness of and raise funds for childhood cancer research. The goal is for individuals, families, and teams to collectively run, walk, and/or cycle 1 million miles ― and beyond. A million miles may sound like a lot, but this is a worldwide event and anyone can participate.
The Connexion Healthcare Oncology Center of Excellence is a proud supporter, and it’s easy to join and to participate. Register at AlexsMillionMile.org. Run, walk, or cycle throughout September at your own pace and as often as you like. Walk your dog. Run with a friend. Ride your bike. Do all three. Every mile counts. You can start or join a team, too.
Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004) is the inspiration behind Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer, before her first birthday. When she was 4 years old, Alex announced that she wanted to have a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Ultimately, with the help of other children and adults, she reached her ambitious goal of raising $1 million. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a Connexion Cares charity that works to foster healthcare research and patient advocacy.
It’s easy to join in on the fun during Alex’s Million Mile. Begin logging miles on September 1 either manually or using an App. There is no fee to sign up, and no minimum fundraising requirement. Last year, more than 7,500 registered participants joined in on the 2nd Annual Alex’s Million Mile event.
