Susan Stein, MPH, President and CEO of Connexion Healthcare, is a finalist for the 2014 Medical Marketing & Media (MM&M) Agency Marketer of the Year award.
MM&M has announced 5 finalists in each of 31 categories. Winners will be announced on October 2, 2014.
Through this award, MM&M recognizes “Outstanding individual contributions to healthcare marketing and communications, in either a leadership, strategic, creative or support role.” MM&M defines these individuals as those who “have excelled in their roles during the eligibility period and that have made a demonstrable difference to their organizations, perhaps through strong leadership, or great team-work, mentoring, business development, great ideas, strong collaboration with clients or partners, or by producing a consistently high standard of work throughout the year.”
Ms Stein was nominated for her most recent innovation—restructuring Connexion Healthcare from a general agency into 3 separate business units called Centers of Excellence (CoEs) with core communications expertise in Oncology, Rare Disease, and Neuroscience.
Ms Stein inspires those around her by setting the vision of the company and instilling trust in her employees to follow through on that vision, thus allowing them to excel in their individual fields. Ms Stein sets the standard for her employees by her boundless energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge.
Over the past year, Ms Stein has defined and launched the Connexion Healthcare CoEs and has carried through this vision in the following ways:
Took a calculated risk to turn away legacy business, and thus short-term profits, that were outside of the CoE therapeutic areas, which ultimately resulted in greater company growth consistent with the CoE vision
Emboldened employees to aspire to be thought leaders and pursue learning and sharing information through online classes, increased journal subscriptions, live speaker sessions, and congress attendance
Made strategic hires to support the CoE vision
Launched a monthly educational series of articles for pharmaceutical companies and physicians
Launched a new Web site that includes educational white papers for physicians and pharmaceutical companies (connexionhealthcare.com)
Rolled out the philanthropic Connexion Cares™ program through which Connexion Healthcare donates a portion of each scope of work sold to designated charities aligned with the CoEs. All staff are encouraged to join and actively participate in a charitable cause
Participated, with the Connexion team, in the 2013 Alex’s Lemon Run to benefit childhood cancer
