Connexion Healthcare’s Oncology Center of Excellence recently attended the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Academy for Excellence & Leadership in Oncology, held in Philadelphia, PA. Pharmaceutical and biotechnology professionals were given the rare opportunity to review the most pressing issues in oncology. Current stakeholders discussed oncology’s current operational, informational, reimbursement, coverage, policy, and business issues, as well as its future, from the perspective of providers and payers.
The aim of the interactive program was to provide knowledge of real-world oncology issues to professionals from marketing, sales, medical affairs, clinical research, policy and government affairs, and other business areas so that they can better serve their customers. Key stakeholders provided their views on the most pressing issues in oncology today and how to apply this knowledge to create mutually successful working relationships.
The one-day program was divided into three modules: Module I: New Trends in Utilization Management Strategies for Systemic Therapies and Diagnostics; Module II: Improving Patient Engagement; Using Technology to Support the Navigation and Delivery of Quality Cancer Care; and Module III: Meet the NCCN Guidelines Experts; Melanoma, Multiple Myeloma, Myeloid Growth Factors, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphomas.
Susan Stein, MPH, founder and CEO of Connexion Healthcare, a full-service provider of medical and scientific communications, attended the program. “Some of the statistics presented are surprising. For example, $10 billion in co-pay assistance comes from pharmaceutical companies. We look forward to applying what we’ve learned on behalf of our clients,” she said.
